Create challenge cards to post around your classroom. Students will take a photo of each card and type a response for each one. Challenge #1: The Stranger Message You are playing a game online when someone you don't know sends you a message. They ask, “What's your name? What school do you go to?” Detective Task: What should you do? Why is this the safest choice? Challenge #2: The Funny Picture Your friend takes a silly picture of another student at school. Your friend wants you to post it online because “Everyone will think it's funny!” Detective Task: Should you post the picture? Explain what a good digital citizen would do. Challenge #3: The Too-Good-to-Be-True Prize A pop-up says: CONGRATULATIONS! You won a brand-new tablet! Click here and enter your name, address, and phone number to claim your prize! Detective Task: What would you do? What clues tell you that this might not be safe? Challenge #4: The Mean Comment You are watching a video when you see someone leave a really mean comment about another person. Your friend says, “Write something mean back!” Detective Task: What should you do instead? How can you be a good digital citizen in this situation? Challenge #5: The “Secret” Password Your best friend asks you for your password because they want to log into your account. They promise they won't tell anyone. Detective Task: Should you give them your password? Why or why not? What should you do instead?
